나치에 부역했던 의사 클라우스는 자살을 시도한다. 그러나 가까스로 살아난 그는 온몸이 마비된 채 유리로 만든 의료 기구 속에서 겨우 생명을 유지한다. 그리고 클라우스는 자신의 간호를 위해 어린 소년을 고용하고, 곧 그가 숨겨 왔던 끔찍한 비밀이 조금씩 드러난다.
